Best Distributor Management Systems (DMS) for FMCG Brands in India (2026)

For most Indian FMCG brands, the distributor management system shortlist is Botree, Bizom, FieldAssist and BeatRoute, with Channel Konnect and SalesDiary as lighter or connector-led options and Ivy Mobility or Salesforce Consumer Goods Cloud for multinationals. The best one is the one your distributors will actually use: it has to bill retailers or read the distributor's own Tally or Busy books, run schemes and claims, and send secondary sales back to you every day.

A DMS runs general trade: brand to distributor (primary sales), distributor to retailer (secondary sales) and, where retailers report it, off-take to consumers (tertiary sales). It is usually bought with a sales force automation (SFA) app for beats and outlet orders. It is not built for modern trade chain POs, quick commerce POs with appointment slots, or marketplace parcels, which run in separate order systems that meet the DMS in your ERP.

General trade distribution for FMCG brands in India

Before you read: who wrote this, and why our product is not on the list

FilFlo is the order-to-cash operations layer for FMCG brands selling through quick commerce, and it publishes this guide. It is not a DMS, so it is not ranked here; brands whose general trade distributors send formal purchase orders alongside Blinkit, Zepto and modern trade POs can run those POs through it next to a DMS, not instead of one. Every vendor fact below comes from the vendor's own product, pricing or news pages, or published press, as of October 2026. Customer names are only those vendors publish, and large brands often run different vendors by module or region, so a logo is not proof of a full DMS rollout.

⚡ Key Takeaways

  • A DMS runs the distributor's back office and reports secondary sales; SFA runs the field. Most vendors sell both, as separate modules.
  • Botree has the deepest published DMS references in Indian FMCG; Bizom, FieldAssist and BeatRoute lead with SFA and add DMS.
  • Distributor adoption decides success. Connectors that read the distributor's Tally or Busy books now exist from Bizom, Botree, Channel Konnect, BeatRoute and FieldAssist.
  • No brand-side vendor we checked names Marg as a connector source. If your distributors bill in Marg, test that first.
  • Pricing is quote-based almost everywhere; Salesforce is the main exception. Modern trade and quick commerce POs need a separate order system.

Primary, Secondary and Tertiary Sales: What a DMS Actually Tracks

Indian FMCG measures general trade at three levels, and each level lives in a different system. Your ERP already knows primary sales because you invoiced them. The DMS exists to give you the second level, and sometimes a view of the third.

LevelWho sells to whomWhere it is recordedWhat the brand needs from it
Primary salesBrand to distributor or super stockistBrand's ERP or accounting softwareDistributor credit, stock pushed into the channel
Secondary salesDistributor to retailerDMS, or the distributor's own Tally, Busy or MargOutlet-level sell-in, scheme payouts, claims, distributor stock
Tertiary salesRetailer to consumerRetailer apps, POS data or retail audits, where availableReal consumer off-take and slow movers by outlet

The gap between primary and secondary is where general trade money hides: stock loaded into distributors that is not moving, schemes paid on sales that never reached a retailer, and claims that arrive months late.

DMS vs SFA vs eB2B vs PO Order Systems

Buyers often compare tools that do different jobs. Here is how the categories divide:

CategoryWhat it runsMain users
DMSDistributor billing, stock, returns, schemes, claims, secondary sales reportingDistributor staff, brand sales operations
SFABeat plans, outlet visits, order booking, merchandising, attendanceField sales reps and supervisors
eB2B platform (such as udaan or Jumbotail)Buys and resells stock to retailers, acting as a channel in its own rightKiranas and small retailers
PO-driven order systemModern trade and quick commerce POs, appointments, IRN invoices, GRNsBrand operations and key accounts
ERP or accountingLedger, primary invoices, statutory booksFinance

A modern trade or quick commerce PO is a fixed document against a GSTIN, with an appointment and a GRN that decides what you are paid. Our quick commerce order-to-cash guide walks through that lifecycle.

How We Evaluated

We read each vendor's own DMS, pricing, integration and news pages in October 2026 and ranked by fit for an Indian FMCG brand's general trade, weighted towards published Indian FMCG DMS deployments. Names from older lists that are now services firms or field-service software were dropped.

  1. Distributor-side depth: billing, stock, returns, schemes and claims, not just order capture.
  2. Distributor adoption options: full DMS, mobile DMS, or a connector to the distributor's Tally or Busy.
  3. Compliance: whether distributor e-invoicing and e-way bills are documented.
  4. SFA pairing: beats, outlet orders and retailer apps feeding the DMS.
  5. Indian FMCG evidence: named, published references using the DMS module.
  6. Pricing transparency: stated as published or quote-based.

1. Botree Software: The DMS-First Specialist for Large Distributor Networks

Botree, based in Chennai and now trading as botree.ai, has built distributor management software for more than 25 years. Botree DMS covers distributor masters, orders and returns with GST credit notes, scheme and claims management, inventory with auto-replenishment, and tax management that includes GST and e-invoicing. Around it sit SFA, a retailer app, MyDMS for rural and semi-urban distributors, and FlexiDMS (launched October 2023), which pulls secondary sales and inventory from distributors' Tally or Busy without changing their software.

Its published Indian DMS case studies are the strongest on this list: Jyothy Labs runs Botree DMS across more than 2,000 distributors, Amul (GCMMF) uses its DMS, mobile DMS, SFA and retailer app, and Royal Canin India uses DMS with SFA. In August 2025 it announced an agreement to acquire Spoors. Expect an enterprise sales cycle and rollout in distributor waves.

Best for: Large FMCG brands with hundreds or thousands of distributors who need distributor billing at depth

Not for: Small brands with a handful of distributors, or teams that mainly want a field sales app

2. Bizom: SFA, DMS and Retailer Ordering with Three Distributor Modes

Bizom (Mobisy Technologies, Bengaluru) sells a broad CPG platform: SFA, beat optimisation, van sales, a retailer app, WhatsApp ordering, trade promotions and DMS. Its DMS meets distributors where they are. Online DMS is the full version for key distributors, covering primary orders, primary and secondary returns, inventory, claims, secondary schemes and collections. Mobile DMS gives small distributors and sub-stockists a lighter app. The DMS Connector, sold as Bizom Connect 2.0, reads daily sales and inventory from a multi-brand distributor's TallyPrime (3.0 and above) without moving their billing.

Hershey's and Elite Foods appear in testimonials on its DMS pages, and Bizom raised a USD 12 million Series B in December 2024 led by Pavestone. The DMS page talks about local taxation and compliance but does not describe e-invoicing for distributors, so ask how IRNs are generated for distributors above the Rs 5 Cr threshold.

Best for: Brands that want field sales, distributor management and retailer ordering from one vendor

Not for: Buyers who need published pricing or e-invoicing documented on the DMS page

3. FieldAssist: SFA-Led Platform with a DMS and Two-Way Tally Sync

FieldAssist (Flick2Know Technologies, Gurugram) started in sales force automation and now sells DMS, van sales, a retailer app, loyalty, trade promotion management and image recognition around it. Its DMS covers GST invoicing, load sheets, claims synced to the ERP, a multi-slab scheme engine, expiry and damage alerts, and a combined primary and secondary view, with retailer app orders flowing into distributor billing. It lists pre-built integrations for SAP, Oracle, Tally and Microsoft Dynamics, shipped a two-way Tally integration in 2024, and its 2025 DMS guide says the DMS generates e-invoices and e-way bills in the same step.

Its site shows Indian FMCG names such as Haldiram's, Parle and Bisleri and publishes a Nivea case study, without saying which modules each uses. Ask for references that run the DMS specifically.

Best for: Brands whose GT growth is driven by field sales execution and outlet coverage

Not for: Teams that want a DMS-only vendor or a published price list

4. BeatRoute: Configurable SFA and DMS with a Startup Track

BeatRoute, based in Gurugram with offices across Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa, sells SFA, DMS, a retailer app, van sales, loyalty and AI ordering agents, tied together by a low-code integration layer, BeatRoute Matrix. Its DMS handles secondary invoices with schemes applied automatically, batch and expiry-aware stock, returns and credit notes, claims with proof, and a primary plus secondary view, and it logs tertiary off-take where retailers share it. It syncs with a distributor's own billing software through a connector, file sync or API; its DMS guide names Tally and Busy.

Perfetti India is its clearest published Indian FMCG reference. A Startup Program targets teams under 50 reps or 500 customers, which makes it one of the few enterprise-grade vendors that courts smaller brands openly.

Best for: Brands that want a configurable platform, including smaller teams through its startup programme

Not for: Buyers who need distributor e-invoicing documented up front

5. Channel Konnect: A DMS Built Around Distributors Who Won't Switch Software

Channel Konnect (NowApps Technologies, Bengaluru) offers the most explicit menu for the distributor adoption problem. DMS Lite connects to a distributor's existing billing software (it claims more than 250 supported programs). Tally DMS puts the brand's pricing, scheme and territory rules inside the distributor's Tally. Excel DMS is an upload fallback. DMS Pro is a full distributor ERP with billing and compliance, and its FMCG page says e-invoices and e-way bills are generated in the background. It integrates with Tally, Busy and SAP and supports van sales.

It claims more than 20,000 distributors, but its testimonials are anonymised and it serves several industries beyond FMCG, so reference checks matter more here than with the larger names.

Best for: Brands whose distributors refuse to leave Tally, Busy or their existing billing software

Not for: Buyers who need named FMCG references before they shortlist

General Trade on a DMS. What Runs Your PO Channels?

If modern trade, quick commerce or distributor POs are growing next to your beats, see how a PO-driven order-to-cash flow runs beside the DMS, from PO intake to IRN invoice and GRN.

6. SalesDiary: Offline-First Field Sales with a Lighter DMS

SalesDiary (Appobile Labs, Bengaluru) is field sales software first: an offline-first app for beats and orders, van sales, and a DMS module for purchase orders, GRN reconciliation and claims. It integrates with SAP and Tally. Cycle Agarbatti is among its published testimonials.

The DMS is lighter than Botree's or Channel Konnect's: its pages do not describe distributor billing or e-invoicing, so treat it as SFA with distributor visibility rather than a distributor ERP.

Best for: Mid-size brands where poor connectivity on beats is the first problem to solve

Not for: Brands that need full distributor billing and e-invoicing from the DMS

7. Ivy Mobility: Cloud DMS for Multinationals, Including on Salesforce

Ivy Mobility is headquartered in Singapore, with development in Chennai and a Mumbai centre of excellence. Its cloud DMS covers order processing, billing, promotions, claims, returns, credit limits, shelf-life ageing and inter-distributor transfers, alongside SFA, direct store delivery, retail execution and trade promotion management. It runs on AWS, Azure and Salesforce; Ivy on Salesforce is one of the few documented ways to run Indian secondary sales inside a Salesforce stack.

Its published customers are global (P&G for Asia-Pacific and IMETA, FrieslandCampina, Grupo Bimbo), and its site names no Indian FMCG customer or Tally connector. A strong option for a multinational's India business; a harder sell for an India-only brand.

Best for: Multinational FMCG companies standardising DMS across countries, or on Salesforce

Not for: India-only brands that want Indian FMCG references and Tally connectors

8. Salesforce Consumer Goods Cloud: Retail Execution and Trade Promotions

Consumer Goods Cloud is Salesforce's CPG product: retail execution, key account sales, trade promotion management with claims and funds, and distributor ordering features. Unusually here, it publishes prices (see the table), with trade promotion management on request.

It does not describe distributor billing or Indian GST compliance, and its named customers are global. In Indian general trade it is usually the CRM and retail execution layer, with a DMS such as Ivy on Salesforce handling distributors.

Best for: Enterprises already standardised on Salesforce that want retail execution and trade promotion in it

Not for: Distributor billing and GST in Indian general trade without an add-on DMS

9. Marg ERP: The Software Many of Your Distributors Already Run

Marg is not a brand DMS, but many distributors bill in it. Its FMCG distribution software covers billing with e-invoicing, batch and expiry tracking, credit limits, schemes and claims, dispatch tracking, and mobile apps for order booking and field sales. Pricing is published, starting at Rs 5,550 plus GST.

The practical point for a brand: none of the brand-side DMS vendors we checked names Marg as a supported connector source, while all of them name Tally and several name Busy. If a large share of your distributors bill in Marg, ask every vendor on your shortlist exactly how their data will reach you.

Best for: Distributors themselves, or brands that run their own distribution arm

Not for: Brand-level secondary sales visibility across many independent distributors

The Real Decision: How Your Distributors Will Use It

DMS projects rarely fail on features. They fail when distributors keep billing in their own software and the DMS becomes a second, emptier system. Vendors now offer three ways in, and most brands end up using more than one:

Full DMS: the distributor bills in your system

Prices, schemes and credit limits are enforced at billing, and secondary sales are exact. It works for exclusive or key distributors, usually because claims settle faster. Examples: Botree DMS, Bizom Online DMS, Channel Konnect DMS Pro.

Mobile or lite DMS: for small distributors and sub-stockists

A simpler app for distributors without a billing team, often in rural and semi-urban markets. Examples: Bizom Mobile DMS, Botree MyDMS.

Connector: read the distributor's own books

Multi-brand distributors will not bill in five brands' systems. A connector pulls their secondary sales and stock from Tally or Busy into your DMS, usually daily. You get visibility without enforcement. Examples: Bizom Connect 2.0, Botree FlexiDMS, Channel Konnect DMS Lite and Tally DMS, BeatRoute connectors, FieldAssist's Tally sync. If your distributors run Tally, our guide to Tally add-ons and companion tools covers the distributor-side options too.

How to Choose: Four Questions Before Any Demo

  1. What do your distributors bill in today? Count Tally, Busy, Marg and paper. Ask each vendor to demo the connector for your actual mix.
  2. Do you need enforcement or visibility? Enforcement (price, scheme, credit at billing) needs a full DMS; visibility can start with connectors.
  3. Where do claims settle? Ask to see a scheme claim go from retailer invoice to distributor claim to brand credit note, end to end.
  4. Which references use the DMS module? Logos often reflect SFA alone. Ask for an Indian FMCG reference running DMS at your distributor count.

Keep the boundary clear as you grow beyond general trade. A DMS will not run a DMart or Blinkit PO, and an order system built for those POs will not run your beats. Our Top 10 Order Management Systems guide covers the PO side.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a distributor management system (DMS) in FMCG?

A DMS is software that runs the distributor's side of general trade: billing retailers, managing distributor stock and returns, applying schemes, processing claims back to the brand, and reporting secondary sales (distributor to retailer) to the brand. It is usually sold with a sales force automation app for beats and outlet orders, and connected to the brand's ERP, where primary sales (brand to distributor) are invoiced.

What is the difference between a DMS and SFA?

SFA (sales force automation) runs field activity: beat plans, outlet visits, order booking, merchandising and attendance. A DMS runs the distributor's back office: invoicing the orders SFA captures, stock, schemes, claims, collections and returns. Most Indian vendors sell both, but they are separate modules, and brands often buy them from different vendors in different regions.

Which is the best DMS for FMCG companies in India?

For large distributor networks, Botree has the deepest published DMS references in Indian FMCG. Bizom and FieldAssist suit brands that want SFA, DMS and retailer ordering from one vendor. BeatRoute is a configurable alternative with a programme for smaller teams. Channel Konnect is built around distributors who will not switch billing software. Ivy Mobility and Salesforce Consumer Goods Cloud fit multinationals. The deciding factor is usually distributor adoption, not features.

Do distributors have to stop using Tally or Busy to use a DMS?

Not necessarily. Most vendors offer a connector that reads secondary sales and stock from the distributor's books: Bizom Connect 2.0, Botree FlexiDMS, Channel Konnect DMS Lite and Tally DMS, BeatRoute's connectors and FieldAssist's Tally sync. The trade-off is control: a connector reports what was billed, while a full DMS enforces prices and schemes at billing.

How much does a DMS cost in India?

Almost every DMS vendor in India prices by quote, typically by distributor, user or module. Salesforce publishes per-user prices for Consumer Goods Cloud, and Marg publishes prices for distributor-side software. Third-party price ranges circulate online, but they are estimates; ask vendors for a quote based on your distributor count, user count and the modules you need.

Does a DMS handle e-invoicing for distributors?

Some document it: Botree lists e-invoicing under tax management, Channel Konnect says DMS Pro generates e-invoices and e-way bills, and FieldAssist's DMS guide says the same. A distributor whose aggregate turnover has exceeded Rs 5 crore in any year since 2017-18 must e-invoice B2B sales, so confirm how the DMS generates IRNs. Operational guidance, not tax advice.

Can a DMS manage modern trade and quick commerce orders?

Not well. A DMS is built for distributor billing and secondary sales. Modern trade chains and quick commerce platforms send purchase orders against a specific GSTIN, with channel SKU codes, appointment slots and GRN-based settlement, which need a PO-driven order system. Brands selling across general trade, modern trade and quick commerce usually run a DMS for GT and a separate order-to-cash system for PO channels, meeting in the ERP.

Selling Beyond General Trade?

Bring one real modern trade, quick commerce or distributor PO to a 30-minute walkthrough and see it run from intake to approval, picking, IRN invoice, e-way bill and GRN, alongside the DMS you already use.
