Best E-Way Bill Mobile Apps in India (2026)
The best e-way bill mobile app for most businesses is the billing app they already invoice in: Swipe, Zoho Books, myBillBook, Vyapar, GimBooks and Refrens all state that their apps generate e-way bills, usually on paid plans. Without a billing app, NIC's own channels still work on a phone: an Android app distributed through the e-way bill portal (it is not on the Play Store), SMS generation to 7738299899, and the portal in a mobile browser. To scan and verify, use GSTN's e-Services app or NIC's e-Invoice QR verifier for IRN QR codes, and IRIS Peridot for both e-invoice and e-way bill QR codes.
For an e-way bill PDF on your phone, Swipe says its app can save and send the bill, and the portal's public e-way bill search builds a printable copy after OTP verification. Every app below was checked on Google Play, the App Store or the developer's site in October 2026.

Key Takeaways
- Three jobs, three kinds of app: generate (billing apps, NIC app, SMS), update in transit (transporter apps), and verify (QR scanners).
- NIC's e-way bill app is not on the Play Store; it is downloaded through the portal after registering the user's device. Play Store apps with e-way bill in the name are privately developed.
- Most billing apps put e-way bills on paid plans or credits. Check the plan before you count on it at the dispatch gate.
- Since 1 April 2025, portal logins need two-factor authentication, and since 1 January 2025 you cannot raise an e-way bill on a document older than 180 days.
How We Evaluated
We looked for apps that do one of three jobs on a phone: generate an e-way bill (and give you a PDF to share), update it in transit (Part-B vehicle details, extension, cancellation), or verify an e-invoice or e-way bill QR code. For each app we confirmed the listing on Google Play or the App Store and read what the developer states about e-way bills on the listing, help pages and pricing page in October 2026. We list a capability only where the developer states it, ignore ratings and download counts, and name the developer as it appears on the store or site.
Government channels are described from NIC's e-way bill FAQ, its web user manual (version dated June 2025), its SMS user manual and the IRP QR verify app page. Treat this page as operational guidance, not tax advice; the rules and apps change, so confirm on ewaybillgst.gov.in before relying on any step.

Apps That Generate E-Way Bills
Billing and accounting apps first, then NIC's own channels.
1. Swipe: Best Mobile-First Billing App for E-Way Bills
Swipe, from Nextspeed Technologies, pitches its e-way bill feature at phone users: raise the bill from an existing invoice, save the PDF and send it from the app, or generate several at once. Its Play listing says the app files both documents straight to the GST systems. Swipe includes a few e-way bills at no cost, and its pricing page lists no e-way bill cap on the JET plan across web, Android and iOS (₹3,799 a year at the time of writing).
Best for: small businesses that invoice and dispatch from a phone and want the PDF in WhatsApp in seconds. Not for: businesses whose invoices live in another accounting system, since the e-way bill flows from Swipe's own invoice.
2. Zoho Books: Best if You Already Account in Zoho
Zoho Books' Android listing says you pick an invoice, credit note or delivery challan and raise the e-way bill from it, and Zoho's mobile apps page lists e-invoicing and e-way bills among its mobile features. Because the e-way bill comes from the same transaction your accountant sees, there is no re-keying between the phone and the books. Zoho publishes its plans, including a free tier, but its pricing page does not say which plans include e-way bills, so confirm before you rely on it.
Best for: SMEs already on Zoho Books. Not for: businesses on Tally or another ledger, who would end up keeping two sets of invoices.
3. myBillBook: E-Invoice and E-Way Bill From One Invoice
myBillBook, from FloBiz, promises one-click e-invoices and e-way bills in its Google Play listing, and its help centre walks through generating from the invoice preview after saving GSP credentials once. FloBiz says it uses Masters India as its GSP for this. On the current pricing page, unlimited e-way bills and e-invoicing are listed on the Pro Max plan; older help articles use different plan names, so check the plan at sign-up.
Best for: traders and small brands that need IRN and e-way bills from the same mobile invoice. Not for: teams on the lower plans, which do not list e-way bills.
4. Vyapar: E-Way Bill From a Sale Entry
Vyapar's own walkthrough generates an e-way bill from the app's Add Sale flow: add transport details to the sale and generate, after which the app shows the EWB number alongside the generated document. Vyapar runs on Android, iOS and Windows, which suits shops that bill at the counter and on the phone. Check which plan includes e-way bills before you rely on it.
Best for: retailers and wholesalers already billing in Vyapar. Not for: multi-GSTIN businesses with warehouse dispatch.
5. GimBooks: In-App E-Way Bill Button
GimBooks' App Store listing describes raising and sharing e-invoices and e-way bills from the phone, and its site shows an E-Way Bill button in the app, including cancellation. E-way bills consume credits on both its Premium and E-Invoicing plans. We confirmed the iOS listing; we could not confirm the Android package for this guide.
Best for: small businesses comfortable paying per e-way bill. Not for: high daily volumes, where credits add up.
6. Refrens: Invoicing App With E-Way Bills and IRN
Refrens' Play listing names e-invoice generation, IRN, e-invoice QR codes and e-way bill generation. Its pricing page does not mention e-way bills, so confirm availability on your plan.
Best for: service and product businesses already invoicing in Refrens. Not for: buyers who want e-way bill pricing in writing before they sign up.
7. NIC E-Way Bill App: The Government App, Distributed Through the Portal
NIC's FAQ lists Android and iOS apps among the ways to generate e-way bills, and restricts the app to taxpayers and enrolled transporters; it cannot be installed from the Play Store or App Store. The main user logs in to ewaybillgst.gov.in, opens Registration, selects the user or sub-user and enters that user's device IMEI; the download link then arrives by SMS on the registered mobile. An NIC-published iOS listing exists, but it was last updated in January 2019, so test it before depending on it.
Best for: taxpayers and transporters who want the government app on a dispatch supervisor's phone. Not for: anyone expecting a Play Store install, or invoices that should come from a billing system.
8. NIC SMS Route: E-Way Bills From Any Phone
Register a mobile number under Registration, For SMS, on the portal (with OTP), then send keyword messages to 7738299899. NIC positions SMS for small taxpayers and for emergencies such as night dispatches. It does not support bill-to/ship-to transactions or over-dimensional cargo, a generator can cancel only within 24 hours, and the other party can reject within 72 hours. The core keywords from NIC's SMS manual:
| Keyword | What it does |
|---|---|
| EWBG | Generate an e-way bill (taxpayer) |
| EWBT | Generate an e-way bill (transporter) |
| EWBV | Update vehicle number |
| EWBC | Cancel an e-way bill |
| EWBU | Update transporter |
| EWBR | Reject an e-way bill raised by the other party |
A generation message follows the manual's order: EWBG, transaction type, recipient GSTIN (URP if unregistered), delivery PIN code, invoice number, invoice date, total value, HSN code, approximate distance and vehicle number. The SMS manual dates from 2018 and allows one registered number, while the 2025 web manual mentions up to two, so check the portal's current screen.
Best for: occasional e-way bills and emergency fallback. Not for: anything with bill-to/ship-to, multiple items or volume.
9. Transporter and Bulk E-Way Bill Apps
A set of privately developed Play Store apps focus on what happens after generation. ASPTAX E-WAY Bill from Incresol Software Services lists viewing e-way bills, Part-B updates, cancellation and validity extension across business places. GEN GST E-WayBill from SAG Infotech lists generation, bulk and consolidated e-way bills, extension, multi-vehicle movement, cancellation and print. Cargo Exchange's E-Way Bill app lists generation, consolidated bills, Part-B updates, and printing or sharing the bill, and is meant to be used with its web product. None of these are government apps; check each developer's data handling before connecting your GSTIN.
Best for: transporters and dispatch teams updating vehicles and extending validity on the road. Not for: businesses that want generation tied to their own invoicing.
Apps That Scan and Verify IRN and E-Way Bill QR Codes
The e-invoice QR is a signed code from the Invoice Registration Portal that anyone can verify; the e-way bill QR is described by NIC as an aid for tax officers.
10. GSTN e-Services App: Best Free Verifier
GSTN's e-Services app on Google Play and the App Store bundles GSTN's e-invoice QR verifier, plus IRN status checks across all IRPs, taxpayer search by GSTIN or PAN, and return filing history, with no account needed. It does not generate e-way bills.
Best for: receiving teams and buyers checking a supplier's e-invoice at the dock. Not for: e-way bill QR codes.
11. NIC e-Invoice QR Verifier
The IRP portal hosts NIC's QR Code Verify App: the Android version is downloaded from einvoice1.gst.gov.in after mobile OTP, and an iOS version is on the App Store. NIC's QR specification says the signed QR carries supplier and recipient GSTIN, document number and date, value, item count, main HSN, IRN and IRN date, and can be verified offline by anyone using the app.
Best for: offline verification of e-invoice QR codes. Not for: users who only install from the Play Store.
12. IRIS Peridot: One Scanner for E-Invoice and E-Way Bill QR
IRIS Peridot, published on Google Play by IRIS RegTech Solutions, says it reads both QR types, e-invoice and e-way bill, and shows the IRN and invoice details. It is the one scanner we found from an established GST software company that names both QR types. Independent developers also publish QR readers on Google Play; prefer apps that verify the IRP signature rather than only decoding the text.
Best for: warehouses and transporters that receive both documents. Not for: generating e-way bills.
Also Checked, and Why They Are Not on the List
TallyPrime generates e-way bills in the desktop product while recording an invoice, with sharing on WhatsApp, but Tally Solutions does not publish a mobile app for it; its browser access is for viewing business reports. A Play Store app called "Tally Invoice GST Billing App" is not from Tally Solutions. Clear and Masters India run e-way bill products on the web and through APIs; the Masters India app links we followed no longer resolve on Google Play, and Clear's GST app lists e-way bill tracking as coming soon. BUSY and MargBooks have mobile apps, but neither listing says e-way bills work in the app. For desktop options, see our guide to e-way bill PC software.
What Changed in 2025, and What It Means on a Phone
NIC's advisory on e-way bill updates phased in two-factor authentication, ending with all taxpayers and users from 1 April 2025. OTPs come by SMS, the Sandes app, or NIC-GST-Shield, an offline code generator distributed only through the e-way bill and e-invoice portals. From 1 January 2025, an e-way bill can be generated only for documents dated within the last 180 days, and validity can be extended only up to 360 days from the original generation. NIC also added interoperable services so Part-B updates and extensions can be done from either e-way bill portal as a fallback.
On a phone, that means keeping the OTP device with whoever logs in, raising e-way bills before invoices age, and keeping a second route (SMS or the other portal) for emergencies. This is operational guidance, not tax advice.
When a Phone App Is the Wrong Tool
Mobile apps suit a business where one person invoices and dispatches. They strain when dispatch runs from warehouses across several GSTINs, invoices need IRN before the e-way bill, and hundreds of bills are active at once. At that point the e-way bill should come out of the dispatch step of the order, not a separate app. That is how order-to-cash platforms work: FilFlo is the order-to-cash operations layer for FMCG brands selling through quick commerce, and it raises the IRN e-invoice and e-way bill at the dispatch step of B2B orders from the consignment data already captured.

How to Choose an E-Way Bill App
- Start from your invoice. The e-way bill should come from the system that raised the invoice, so you never type the same data twice.
- Check the plan, not the feature list. Most apps put e-way bills on paid plans or credits.
- Plan for the person in the truck. Part-B updates and extensions happen on the road; a transporter app or the NIC app may suit them better than your billing app.
- Keep a fallback. Register a number for SMS generation before you need it.
- Verify what you receive. Scan supplier e-invoices with a verifier that checks the IRP signature.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which is the best app to generate e-way bills on mobile in India?
For most small businesses, the billing app you already invoice in. Swipe pitches its e-way bill feature at phone users, from generating the bill to sending the PDF. Zoho Books, myBillBook, Vyapar, GimBooks and Refrens also state e-way bill generation from their apps, usually on paid plans. If you do not use a billing app, NIC's own Android app (distributed through the e-way bill portal) and the SMS route work for registered users.
Is there a government e-way bill app on the Play Store?
No. NIC's e-way bill FAQ restricts its mobile app to taxpayers and enrolled transporters, and the app cannot be installed from the Play Store or App Store. The main user registers the device for a user or sub-user under Registration on ewaybillgst.gov.in, and the download link arrives by SMS on the registered mobile. Apps on the Play Store with e-way bill in the name are privately developed.
How do I generate an e-way bill by SMS?
Register your mobile number on ewaybillgst.gov.in under Registration, For SMS, with OTP verification. Then send an SMS to 7738299899 starting with EWBG (taxpayer) or EWBT (transporter), followed by the transaction type, recipient GSTIN, delivery PIN code, invoice number and date, value, HSN code, approximate distance and vehicle number, as set out in NIC's SMS user manual. SMS also supports vehicle update, cancellation and rejection, but not bill-to/ship-to transactions.
How can I download an e-way bill PDF on my phone?
Billing apps such as Swipe say their app can raise the e-way bill and save or send the PDF, and transporter apps such as Cargo Exchange's list printing and sharing the bill. Without an app, the e-way bill portal's public search (Search, E-Way Bill) builds a printable copy with QR code after OTP verification, for e-way bills from roughly the last six months.
Which app scans e-invoice (IRN) and e-way bill QR codes?
For e-invoice QR codes, use GSTN's e-Services app, which includes the e-invoice QR code verifier and IRN status, or NIC's e-Invoice QR verifier, downloadable from the IRP portal. IRIS Peridot states that it scans both e-invoice and e-way bill QR codes. We found no NIC app dedicated to e-way bill QR codes; NIC describes that QR as an aid for tax officers' verification.
What changed for e-way bills in 2025?
Per NIC's advisory, every taxpayer and transporter has needed two-factor authentication since 1 April 2025, with OTPs by SMS, the Sandes app, or the NIC-GST-Shield app, which is distributed through the portal. From 1 January 2025, e-way bills can be generated only for documents dated within 180 days, and an e-way bill can be extended only up to 360 days from its original generation. This is operational guidance, not tax advice.
